Who doesn’t love a magical warm light on a snowy night? This kids’ activity is perfect to get you and your child outside a bit in the winter, and makes for a truly magical evening – SNOW LANTERNS!

Snow lanterns are easy and fun for the whole family (or class!) to make:
1. Start by making several sturdy snowballs of varying sizes. You will want some larger ones, medium and smaller sized snowballs.
2. Decide how big of a snow lantern you would like. The bigger the circumference you make, the longer it will take to make and the bigger the snow lantern will be.
3. Using the largest of the snowballs, make a circle on the ground with them. Pile these larger snowballs on top of one another for a couple of layers.
4. Using the medium sized snowballs, layer these on top, making the lantern grow taller.
5. Finally, once the circumference gets smaller, use the small snowballs to stack the final few layers.
6. Before the circumference gets too small, put in your candle. You can light a real candle or use a battery operated candle depending on your needs. Stick it inside the lantern and light it.
7. Top off your snow lantern with a couple of snowballs to cover.
8. Enjoy the warm and peaceful glow!

Happy snow lantern making!
