Minna and the Canine Club’s Teaching Tip Tuesday:

It is summer which means it is the perfect time to start a book club with your child! Even reluctant readers will enjoy picking out a book with family or friends, grabbing some book club snacks and digging in!
Here are some great questions to ask to make book club conversations and reading more meaningful:
-What character did you most relate to and why?
-Did this story impact you? In what ways?
-Would you change the ending?
-What parts of the book reminded you of your own life and why?
-What character in the book would you most want to be your friend in real life?
-Was there a quote or part of the book that stood out to you?
Remember, book club books can be anything; including a picture book! We encourage kids to linger with books after reading it the first time, and there is no better way to do that than in a book club!
Happy reading!
